The fascination for the magic of colors and art, directed Massimo Scarpa towards artistic studies, receiving his art degree in Venice in 1977. The strong passion for art, history and theology led him to create and develop works with unique techniques in the world and to establish himself as a painter and restorer of historical and artistic monuments.
He worked in Italy where he contributed to the restoration of various art works and churces including: Palazzo Branoini d'Adda, Palazzo Grass, S.Lorenzo Giustiniani church. In Germany he worked on the restoration of villa Riin (Gissen) and villa Famiglia Longo (Karlsruhe).
In 1999 he was awarded for an exhibition at the “Colonnette” in Venice.
He has been active in academic teaching at the Universidad Veritas of Architecture of S. José, Costa Rica.
One of his paintings was donated to the Holy Father Francis is exposed in the Vatican.
The artist brilliantly masters the most varied painting techniques, but what makes him unique is the encaustic, in which the colours are mixed with wax through the use of heat in order to allow the fusion of wax and pigments and obtain colours of a special shine. The wax is not subject to oxidation, therefore it guarantees a stable and lasting result over time, a characteristic that has allowed the spread of this decorative method since ancient times: in Egypt, in the necropolis of Fayyum dated between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD, or the wall decorations of Pompeii and Herculaneum, splendidly preserved.
Each painting is a true work of art, in your private environment, as well as in your work spaces, a work by Massimo Scarpa will have a highly exclusive, decorative and elegant effect, a truly piece of art.
